Significance of Sri Kattu Veera Anjaneya Temple

Sri Kattu Veera Anjaneya Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, also known as Anjaneya, in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The temple is said to be 2500 years old and has a unique tradition of offering coconuts tied in saffron bags to fulfil one’s wishes. The temple also has a miraculous stone idol of Lord Shiva’s bull, Nandi, which is believed to be growing year after year1. The temple is located near the Salem-Bangalore bypass road and is easily accessible by car.

History of Sri Kattu Veera Anjaneya Temple

According to some sources, the temple’s history dates back to the period of Ramayana, when Lord Hanuman visited this place and blessed it with his presence. The temple was later built by King Krishna Devaraya of the Vijayanagar Empire, who was a devotee of Lord Rama and Hanuman.
